The Reserve is intended to offer an example of effective conservation of an area of 15 hectares (35 acres) of primary tropical rainforest and to reduce the impact on society of the search for resources. It contains many hundreds of different species of tree, many of them rare, and several water courses including the source of the River Tuyano.
Private Nature Reserve at Palma Dorada has a programme for conservation and regeneration of the woodland with native species of trees, providing a shelter for native fauna.
The Reserve is developing a programme of guided walks to enable visitors to discover the diversity of flora and fauna in the Amazonian jungle and research in entomology, natural genetic resources, and of protection of trees and water resources.
“Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors we are able to offer you the opportunity of day visits or longer exploration. We can also accept suitable volunteers, and are happy to welcome new sponsors and the opportunity to sponsor a particular tree.“
